On February 20, 2025, the practicing license of Diane Ralph, Registration No 21093, was suspended by CRNNL Council pending a hearing of the Adjudication Tribunal of the Disciplinary Panel in accordance with section 23(30)(c) of the Registered Nurses Act, 2008.
The Adjudication Tribunal convened on December 6, 2023, and found Diane Ralph, Registration No. 21093 (the Respondent) guilty of conduct deserving of sanction under the Registered Nurses Act, 2008, Section 18(c)(i) professional misconduct
Decision Summary
In a written decision dated February 2, 2024, the Adjudication Tribunal accepted an Agreed Statement of Facts and found Diane Ralph, Registration #21093 (the “Respondent”), guilty of conduct deserving of sanction pursuant to the Registered Nurses Act, 2008, Section 18(c)(i) professional misconduct in having failed to document completion of any patient assessments, medication administration and completion of medication orders during a specified shift.
The conduct occurred November 8, 2021, at St. Clare’s Hospital, St. John’s, NL. The Complainant was the employer, then Eastern Health.
On May 14, 2024, the Adjudication Tribunal convened to consider sanctions to be imposed upon the Registrant.
In a decision dated August 13, 2024, the Adjudication Tribunal issued a reprimand to the Respondent and required the Respondent to engage in specified remedial education including document review; successful completion of specified coursework; submission of a reflective paper and a required meeting with a CRNNL Nursing Consultant – Policy and Practice to reflect on the Respondent’s learnings.
In addition to the above, the Respondent had conditions applied to their license such that the Respondent’s charting must be audited monthly by the employer for a six-month period and the employer shall provide satisfactory audit reports to the College after three and six months of auditing. The Respondent was ordered to pay a portion of the costs incurred by the College in the amount of $1,250.00.
