These are the Board approved licensure exams:

Licensed Practical Nurse

Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam (CPNRE) is the exam for the licensing of licensed practice nurses. The exam is administered by Meazure Learning.

Registered Nurse

NCLEX-RN© is the exam for the licensing of registered nurses. The exam is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) and delivered by Pearson VUE.

Nurse Practitioner

Canadian Nurse Practitioner Examination (CNPE) is the exam for licensing of nurse practitioners in the family/all-ages (FAA) category of practice.

Under labour mobility, applicants who are currently licensed in another Canadian province/territory will be considered to have met the examination requirement for licensure in NL.

Registered Psychiatric Nurse

Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Canada Examination (RPNCE) is the accepted exam for licensure of registered psychiatric nurses.

Note: The College cannot grant exam eligibility for the RPNCE. You must have already passed the exam to apply for RPN licensure in NL.
