Why we exist
The NL College of Nurses exists to serve the public by regulating Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Psychiatric Nurses in Newfoundland and Labrador. We establish standards for safe, ethical, and skilled nursing practice.
Our goal is to ensure that anyone receiving nursing care in this province can trust that it is safe and accountable.

Nursing Regulation in NL
Stronger Together April 15, 2026 marks the formation of the NL College of Nurses. For the first time, all nursing designations—registered nurses, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses, and registered psychiatric nurses—are regulated under one organization.
