Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the NL College of Nurses and provides leadership, oversight, and direction to ensure the College fulfills its mandate under the Nurses Act. The Board sets policy, approves strategic priorities, oversees financial and regulatory decisions, and hires and evaluates the Chief Executive Officer/Registrar who manages the College’s day-to-day work.
The Board is composed of members who represent both the profession and the public. It includes nurses elected by their peers and members of the public (who are appointed) to ensure community perspectives are considered in decision-making.
This composition helps ensure that the public interest is central to how nursing is regulated in Newfoundland and Labrador. The NL College of Nurses is committed to transparency and accountability. Agendas and approved minutes from Board of Directors meetings are posted so nurses and the public can stay informed about decisions and discussions that guide our work.
Meeting agendas are available in advance of each meeting. Approved minutes are posted after they have been reviewed and formally approved by the Board.
Annual General Meeting
An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a yearly meeting where the NL College of Nurses reports on its work and activities. At the AGM, the College presents its annual report and audited financial statements, and shares highlights from the past year. It is an opportunity for nurses and the public to learn about the College’s priorities and plans, and to ask questions. The meeting is held at a time set by the Board of Directors and may take place in person or electronically to support broad participation. Information about how to attend is shared in advance.
