Tonya Ryan, Board Chair
Tonya is a Registered Nurse and senior nurse leader with more than 30 years of experience in nursing practice, health system leadership, and healthcare transformation in Newfoundland and Labrador.
She proudly serves as Chair of the Board of the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Nurses, providing leadership during the historic merger of the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Professional Career
Tonya has held multiple roles with CRNNL Council during her 10-year tenure, serving as Chair of the Council for the last couple of years. In these roles, she has been a strong advocate for effective nursing regulation, public protection, and collaborative governance.
In her professional career, Tonya is the Regional Program Director for Emergency, Critical Care and Cardiopulmonary Services with Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (Central Zone). She has extensive experience leading complex clinical programs, workforce planning, integrated capacity management, and system-wide change initiatives. Her background includes nursing management roles across emergency, critical care, medicine, stroke and renal services, and provincial clinical projects.
Tonya lives in beautiful Grand Falls – Windsor and is blessed to be surrounded by her family and friends, with her husband Leo and her two beautiful boys Keyan and Cody.
