Inactive Status
Nurses who do not hold a current practicing license are considered by the College to be inactive.
There are different categories of Inactive for RNs, RPNs and NPs:
- Inactive – On Leave
- You can only complete the Inactive – on leave registration change process during the licensure renewal period.
- You will be required to enter an anticipated return to practice date.
- You must complete the licensure reinstatement application process. This includes logging your 24 hours of CCP learning activities, before returning to practice.
- Note that your 24 hours of CCP learning activities must be within the preceding 12- month period of returning to practice.
- Inactive – Resigned
- Complete the Inactive – Resigned declaration process in the College’s member portal.
- If you wish to return to practice in the province at a future date you will be required to complete the licensure reinstatement process.
- Inactive – Lapsed
- If you fail to renew a practicing licence the College will automatically change your status to Inactive – lapsed.
- If you wish to return to practice in the province at a future date you will be required to complete the licensure reinstatement process.
Currently there is only one category of Inactive for LPNs:
- Inactive – Lapsed
- If you fail to renew a practicing licence the College will automatically change your status to Inactive – lapsed.
- If you wish to return to practice in the province at a future date you will be required to complete the licensure reinstatement process.
