CCP for Licensed Practical Nurses
The Continuing Competency Program (CCP) for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) is a mandatory annual program that supports nurses in maintaining and improving their knowledge, skills, and judgment throughout their careers.
As part of the program, LPNs reflect on their practice, identify learning needs, and complete ongoing learning activities to strengthen their competence. CCP is documented in the Alinity database; LPNs should sign in to the member portal. This is where their learning goal, directed learning, and all other learning activities are recorded in the My Learning section.
The CCP is a key part of the College’s quality assurance framework and helps ensure that LPNs continue to provide safe, ethical, and competent care to the public.

CCP Audits
The CCP Audit process for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) is a confidential quality assurance activity. It’s used to verify that nurses are meeting the requirements of the Continuing Competency Program.
Each year, a random selection of LPNs is chosen and asked to submit their CCP documentation—such as their learning plan and record of learning—for review. This information is assessed to ensure that meaningful learning has occurred and has been applied to practice.
Following the review, LPNs are notified of the outcome and may be asked to provide additional information or complete further learning if needed. Participation in the audit is mandatory if selected and supports the College’s role in protecting the public by ensuring ongoing competence.
