Call for Board Nominations
Three Year Term: 2027 to 2030
Would you like to expand your professional profile, network with other nursing and professional leaders, and help guide the work of the NL College of Nurses? We invite all practicing nurses in Newfoundland and Labrador to consider the following opportunities and nominate yourselves for the upcoming Board election. No nominator is required.
The NL College of Nurses is the province’s largest healthcare regulator. Your nursing experiences, perspectives, and contributions can make a difference by helping the College protect the public and support safe, ethical nursing care across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Positions Available
Nominations for Registered Nurses (RNs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are now open for a total of four positions, one of which must be a Nurse Practitioner, and each serving a three-year term from 2027 to 2030.
What the Board Does
The Board governs the College under the Nurses Act, 2024. It sets direction and provides oversight for the College’s work, including licensing, professional practice standards, and professional conduct and discipline.
Board members bring perspectives from different nursing roles, practice settings, and communities. All members make decisions in the public interest, rather than representing a particular region or area of nursing practice.
What the role involves
Candidates must be willing and able to:
- Serve a three-year term from 2027 to 2030.
- Maintain a nursing licence throughout the term.
- Attend Board meetings and events throughout the term.
- Follow the Board’s policies on its role (GP-1), code of conduct (GP-2), and conflicts of interest (GP-3).
Read the Board governance policies (PDF) for more information.
Experience you can bring
The Board benefits from a range of skills and experiences. To complement the strengths of current members, experience in any of the following areas would be an asset:
- Technology, privacy, or cybersecurity — working with technology systems or records, protecting personal information, or helping keep data secure.
- Legal matters — understanding contracts, legal issues, or an organization’s legal responsibilities and risks.
- Government or public relations — working with government, contributing to policy discussions, communicating with the public, or building relationships with partners.
These are helpful assets, not requirements for nomination. You do not need experience in these areas to put your name forward. We encourage you to share the skills and perspectives you would bring to the Board.
How to submit a nomination
Complete and submit the online Nomination Form by November 17, 2026.
Tell us about your background, skills, and experience, including any experience in the areas listed above.
Candidates can now nominate themselves. No nominator is required.
