Welcome
Welcome to the first issue of NursingNL: Regulatory Review — a new newsletter by our new organization created to keep nurses informed, connected, and supported as we continue to evolve and grow.
This newsletter (replacing Notes from the Practice Team for RNs and NPs and Practice for LPNs) will provide timely updates on College initiatives, practice expectations, regulatory developments, and professional resources. These are all designed to support safe, ethical, and competent nursing care across Newfoundland and Labrador. Our goal is to offer clear, practical, and relevant information that helps nurses understand both the role of regulation and how initiatives can support nurses in their everyday practice. We value your feedback and input as we continue to move forward.
As we continue progressing through the transition to the new College in the weeks ahead, you may notice gradual updates or refinements to documents, webpages, forms, branding, and social media channels. These changes are a normal and important part of building a unified regulatory organization that serves both the public and the nursing profession with clarity, consistency, and strength. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and continued support throughout this process.
Thank you for the vital role you play in delivering safe and compassionate care across our province. We encourage you to read, reflect, and keep up to date with the NursingNL: Regulatory Review each month.
Message from the CEO & Registrar
As Nursing Week is observed across the country, it’s a fitting moment to acknowledge the nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador and the meaningful work you carry out each day.
On April 15, 2026, the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador came together to form the NL College of Nurses. This merger marks a significant milestone in nursing regulation in our province, and this inaugural newsletter is one of the first steps in building our relationship with you as a unified college.
Our role is to protect the public by ensuring nursing practice is safe, competent, and ethical. But that work is most effective when we communicate openly and consistently with you, the nurses who Newfoundlanders and Labradorians depend upon.
As with any evolution, our goal is to provide you with timely, practical information that supports and relates to your professional practice. I hope you’ll take the time to review the new website, explore the resources available, and follow our new social media channels.
Thank you for your continued dedication to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
