CCP for RNs, RPNs, and NPs
The Continuing Competency Program (CCP) for Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs), and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) is a mandatory annual program. It supports nurses in maintaining and improving their knowledge, skills, and judgment throughout their careers. As part of the program, nurses reflect on their practice and log 24 hours of learning activities each year.
The CCP helps ensure nurses continue to provide safe, competent, and ethical care to the public. All CCP requirements are documented in the nurse portal, Alinity.

CCP Audits
The CCP Audit process for RNs, RPNs, and NPs is a confidential quality assurance activity used to verify that nurses are meeting the requirements of the Continuing Competency Program.
Each year, a random selection of nurses is chosen, and their CCP information from the Alinity portal is reviewed for compliance. The audit assesses whether learning is relevant, meaningful, and has been applied to practice.
Following the review, nurses are informed of the outcome and may be required to provide additional information or complete further learning if needed.
The CCP is one of many initiatives which reinforces the College’s mandate to protect the public by ensuring ongoing competence.
